/usr/lib/dld.sl: Can’t open shared library: /home/oracle/orahome/lib/libwtc8.sl

I recently had an error like the one seen on the title.  While this scenerio pertains to Oracle 8i, I do find how I was able to fix it useful.

My environment variables were correct and I was still getting the error above.
ORACLE_BASE=/u01/app/oracle
ORACLE_SID=oracle_sid
ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.7.4
SHLIB_PATH=/usr/lib/X11R5:/usr/lib/Motif1.2:/u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.7.4/lib

In this case, the two binaries “lsnrctl” and “tnslsnr” did not have the attribute to use SHLIB_PATH enabled.
>chatr /u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.7.4/bin/tnslsnr
/u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.7.4/bin/tnslsnr:
         shared executable
         shared library dynamic path search:
             SHLIB_PATH     disabled  second

To make it check the SHLIB_PATH, we run:
 >chatr +s enable /u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.7.4/bin/tnslsnr

Do the same for “lsnrctl” and retry the command “lsnrctl start” to start the listener.
