How to add attach YP client to NIS server on different network

I’ve had this issue recently and it can take a really long time to solve, if you don’t know the answer.

Here’s the scenerio:
You have an YP client that is network 10.10.10.0/24
You have an NIS server on network 10.20.20.0/24

So how to propagate the client’s requests onto your NIS server(s) without using IP helper on the router side?

For RHEL5, do the following on the client.
Edit /etc/yp.conf
Add entries below such as:
domain nisdev server nisserver1
domain nisdev server nisserver2
domain nisdev server nisserver3

Restart ypbind:
service ypbind restart
